of Upper Puget Sound
After acquiring a new (used) powerboat in the Fall of 2007, and doing a short orientation cruise in and around La Conner, WA., we returned the following Spring for a longer look at the islands of Puget Sound. This five month water tour of northern Washington and British Columbia turned out to be as much a training cruise as a vacation. We learned that just because one knows how to sail in Southern California doesn’t mean one can easily manage the strong currents and the tide-sensitive anchorages of Puget Sound. Add errant logs and unyielding ferries to the mix and the leaning curve gets even steeper. But have a look at the payoff: the fantastic charm and beauty of the Pacific Northwest.
