stoneware pottery
by Jim Crandall
Working in the tradition of the mid-century West Coast potter, Jim Crandall produced utilitarian stoneware pottery for over 25 years until his retirement in 1991. Receiving his training at UCLA during the golden age of Arts and Crafts, he was influenced by the works of Peter Voulkus, Vivika & Otto Heino, Carlton Ball, UCLA classmate, David Cressy, and of course, his teacher and mentor, Laura Andreson.
The pots pictured below were saved for one final show with watercolorist, John Corbeil at Los Angeles Pierce College, but unfortunately, this exhibit never came about. Those 40 pieces, the last in his personal collection, are offered for sale here.
